Plans for a massive Kildare solar farm have been refused by Kildare County Council. indgates Solar Limited wanted to install solar panels at a 180ha site that took crossed the townlands of Cowanstown, Kealstown, Bryanstown, Dowdstown, Donaghstown, Posseckstown, Taghadoe, Toolestown, Windgates, Rowanstown and Roosk. Kildare County Council turned down the application for three reasons. It said, given the site was productive agricultural land and the lack of information provided in relation to, biodiversity, noise, glint and glare, architecturd archaeological heritage and road safety, the proposed development does not comply with the County Development Plan. The local authority also cited the lack of appropriate assessment screening and Natura Impact Statement in relation to breeding and wintering bird surveys. The final reason related to the proximity of the early Christian Monastic Complex at Taghadoe, which includes a Round Tower, ruined church and graveyard, which are protected structures.

Rural councillors rejected a second attempt by Gatineau-based company Evolugen to win support for a large battery facility in rural west Ottawa, after 68 people weighed in over the course of a nearly 10-hour meeting Thursday. Members of the city's agriculture and rural affairs committee voted unanimously to deny the company official backing for the project, though city council will have the final say next week...West Carleton-March Coun. Clarke Kelly, whose ward would be home to the new facility, said he heard a clear message from residents. "I feel like it's overwhelmingly against the project," he said in an interview. "I think even more specifically — against the project proposed in the location where it has been proposed." That location is an approximately 4.5-hectare plot of rural land off Marchurst Road — roughly the area of eight Canadian football fields — located about 30 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa.

The Quincy Planning Commission on Wednesday unanimously denied a special use permit to build a solar farm at the southeast corner of 36th Street and Ellington Road. At the commission's meeting, numerous residents, who live near the proposed farm, came to voice their opinions on the project. While there were some who voiced their support for it, the majority who spoke were adamantly against the solar farm. Their complaints centered around the unsightly nature of the project, environmental concerns as well as safety concerns. The proposed site for the farm technically sits on county land, but since it falls within a 1.5-mile radius of Quincy, the city ultimately gets the final say on zoning. Per Quincy zoning, solar farms may only be built in areas zoned industrial. Since the area for the proposed farm is zoned as agricultural, a special permit was needed.

A $1 billion wind farm earmarked for Central Queensland has been axed by Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie, using ministerial powers. The Greenleaf Renewables development was to include 88 wind turbines and a battery energy storage system over 24 parcels of land at Morinish, 40 kilometres from Rockhampton, with a capacity of 450 megawatts to generate energy for 260,000 homes annually...During the two-month call-in notice period, there were 508 representations, including 142 from local residents. Eighty-eight per cent of residents were against it.

A local campaigner has said she is "overjoyed" after plans to construct a solar farm next to a Warwickshire village have been rejected. Kate Pittel led the drive against the proposed 212-acre site to the west of Fosse Way, near Radford Semele. The plans sparked significant pushback from residents with more than 300 objections, including a petition signed by more than 1,200 people. Councillors at Warwick District Council voted eight to one to reject the plans at a meeting on Tuesday evening as the impact to the landscape outweighed the benefits of the source of renewable energy.
